Blue Air cancels several routes from Liverpool

Budget carrier Blue Air opened its base on John Lennon International Airport from Liverpool with the starting of the 2017 summer schedule. After almost two years with an aircraft allocated at the base, the budget carrier now cancels several routes and downsizes the base to operate only two routes.

The only routes that will be operated in 2019 summer season will be the ones to the Romanian cities of Bucharest and Bacau. In total, there will be 6 weekly frequencies, with 2 weekly flights to Bacau and 4 weekly flights from Liverpool to Henri Coanda Bucharest Otopeni Airport.

Changes demanded by Zeitfracht?

Blue Air also struggles with operations on its Torino base (Italy), with several frequency trims and other service cancelations during the summer season. Also, flights to several routes from Torino have unjustified costs starting the end of this month.
It is hard to say which routes will survive also from Torino.

In the past weeks, several local media reported that Blue Air was either acquired by German logistics company Zeitfracht or at least they acquired large participation in the shares of the Bucharest based airline. This might make some hints that the new owners of the company demand some kind of consolidation in the operations of the budget carrier.
