Helsinki based Finnair announced that starting the European summer-season 2019 which will debut on March 31 it will add another daily flight on the Helsinki – London Heathrow route.
The new Helsinki – LHR flight will be operated with Airbus A320 narrow-body aircraft and it’s aimed at both connection opportunities from London as well as an extra flight for the summer.
Finnair is a member of Oneworld alliance and has a strong partnership with British Airways. I would see customers both connecting on London and Helsinki that can benefit from the upgrade.
Besides adding a new daily flight on the route, Finnair will also upgrade the flight leaving at 16:00 from Helsinki and returning at 18:10 from London to a wide-body aircraft. The flight will be operated with Airbus A330 aircraft, with a seating capacity between 263 and 289 seats, depending on which version will be used on the route.
First-morning flight by from Helsinki to London is operated with Airbus A350. Finnair was the third airline in the world to operate the A350 and first in Europe, starting commercial service with the aircraft in October 2015.
The 1150 miles route has a usual flight time of about 3 hours.
With the announced changes, Finnair will be adding approximately 21% more capacity on the route compared to the previous summer 2018 season.
