The first Boeing Dreamliner 787-10, the biggest Dreamliner in production, was delivered on 25th of March 2018 to launch customer Singapore Airlines.
The plane was manufactured at Boeing’s facility in North Charleston, South Carolina, where it was also held the ceremony of delivery, at which about 3000 people marked the milestone.
The 787-10 features a longer fuselage which allows it to carry about 40 more passengers or a total of 330 seats in a standard two-class configuration.
Singapore Airlines however opted for a more denser seating configuration, offering 36 flat bed business class seats and 301 standard economy seats.
Business class seats of the SIA 787-10 seats are in a 1-2-1 configuration, while economy it’s mostly a 3-3-3, only two pairs of seats in the end of the fuselage being pairs.
Singapore Airlines plans to put its 787-10s into scheduled service in May, with flights from Singapore to Osaka, Japan, and Perth, Australia. Prior to the introduction of these services, the aircraft will be operated on selected flights to Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur for crew training purposes.
Singapore Airlines plans to take deliveries of eight Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner planes until April 2019.
With the addition of the 787-10, the South-East Asian carriers group will be the first to have in its fleet all the range of Boeing 787 planes, although the smaller versions of the planes are operated by its low-cost subsidiary Scoot.
Singapore Airlines has 68 additional Boeing widebody jets on order, including 48 additional 787-10s, and 20 of the new 777-9s.
