LOT Polish Airlines ready to order Airbus airplanes if they receive a good offer

Rafał Milczarski, CEO of the national Polish airline LOT today said in an interview held after an aviation related conference held in Poland that the airline considers ordering Airbus airplanes if they receive a good offer. The details were related by the local website Rynek-Lotniczy.pl.

Particularly, the Polish airline is looking at its options for the Airbus A350-900 and Airbus A350-1000 models for their long haul operations, while the Airbus A220 might be interesting for the regional operation.

The CEO of LOT said they are interested in buying these planes if they receive a good offer from the European airplane manufacturer, and that also the A320 model was considered at the time of the orders for the current Boeing MAX fleet. However, due to economic circumstances, the Polish carrier opted then for the MAX model.

LOT Polish Airlines is a long-run Boeing client, but probably that the problems that are faced by the Boeing 737 MAX airplane made the European carrier is looking into other options.

Also, it is to be considered that LOT is also a long-run Embraer operator, and the Brazilian airplane manufacturer entered into a joint venture with Boeing last year for selling the E Jets.
Also, the Polish carrier has in it’s fleet 12 Bombardier Dash 8 airplanes, that will have their leasing contract expired in 2023 and might be replaced with a bigger capacity regional jet.

Another topic held at the Polish aviation conference attended by the CEO of LOT was the discussion whether LOT will receive compensations for Boeing for the grounding period of the MAX airplanes.
The CEO said according to local website rynek-lotnicky.pl that it is in the Board of Directors responsibility to seek compensations, something that was also previously done on the occasion of the Dreamliner’s groundings.
