Qatar Airways orders 10 Airbus A321LR aircraft

Qatar Airways today announced that it converts 10 out of its 50 Airbus A321neo orders to the longer range variant of the A321 aircraft.

The A321LR aircraft has an extended range that could allow the Doha-based oneworld alliance member to launch new flights to regions where the presence of a widebody would have not been profitable or to add more frequencies on existing routes with demand which is exactly what Qatar Airways also said in a press release.

The carrier has not released the selection of engine type for this aircraft.

Qatar Airways will take delivery of the first A321LR’s in 2020, until then the deliveries will continue on current A320/A321neo aircraft.

The A321LR, the latest member of the market leading A320neo family, is able to fly longer routes of up to 4,000 nm (7,400 km).
In Europe, the aircraft will be used predominantly by carriers that want to make trans-Atlantic flights, but they are unable to fill a widebody.

In general, the A321LR can carry up to 206 passengers in a typical two-class layout, or up to 244 passengers in a single-class configuration on intraregional flights, offering each passenger the possibility to carry up to three bags.
