TAROM, a state-owned national carrier in Romania, will add starting July 2018 six new routes to its fleet. The routes will be flown from outside the Capital of Romania, Bucharest, which is quite unusual in the recent years for TAROM, having a base only in Iasi.
The biggest winner of the expansion will be Timisoara, the city in the West of Romania to receive flights to Stuttgart, Paris, and Chisinau.
Also, Chisinau will be a winner, the Capital City of the Republic of Moldova will have two additional flights, to Constanta and Timisoara. The flights are said to be however only seasonal. Currently, there are two daily flights between Bucharest and Chisinau, operated with ATR turboprop planes.
Sibiu and Cluj-Napoca airports will get two flights. Sibiu will get a three weekly frequency (Wednesday, Friday and Sunday) to Stuttgart while Cluj-Napoca will have a flight to Paris (rumours are saying Paris Charles de Gaulle).
Excepting the Sibiu – Stuttgart flight, TAROM has not yet announced the schedule of the flights, only that they will start in July 2018.
Tickets are not yet on sale, however, I would expect them to come soon, since the day of launching the flights it’s fast approaching, and timely sale is critical to the success of a new route.
