Lufthansa to add payed a la carte menu on long haul flights
German airline Lufthansa announced earlier today that starting May 2018 they will add a new catering option for long-haul flights originating from Frankfurt and Munchen.
The airline will add an a la carte menu that will be possible to book in advance for a fee between 19 and 33 EUR. The menu would replace the first course for passengers that are ordering this new improved menu.
The standard menu will, of course, be served as usual, this option would only add a cherry on top for passengers traveling in economy and premium economy class and are willing to pay a premium for getting a better looking and hopefully tastier menu.
Lufthansa isn’t the first airline to add a la carte menus, this option is already for a while at other airlines such as KLM.
However, I never saw on my trips actually someone ordering an „improved” menu in economy class.
