Turkish Airlines orders 25 Airbus A350-900’s and 25 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners

Turkish Airlines has confirmed an order of 50 widebody planes that will start to be delivered in 2019. The order is a split between the two giant manufacturers Airbus and Boeing. Turkish Airlines have chosen to order a split 25 A350’s from Airbus and 25 787-9’s from Boeing. For both manufacturers, they also placed an additional option to acquire 5 more planes.

The planes will help boost the operation of the Turkish carrier to destinations that would have been too expensive to operate with the other planes in Turkish Airlines fleet.

Rolls-Royce Trent XWB will power the engines of the A350-900’s plane in the Turkish Airlines fleet.

The first deliveries from Airbus will start in 2019, when 6 airplanes are already scheduled to be delivered. The rest of the order would be delivered in 2020, so the planes will enter quite soon in the fleet of Turkish Airlines. This means that we should expect increased frequencies and new routes announced soon from Turkish Airlines.
